Quota
Beat your own number. The fairest game a mixed group can play.
Every player gets a target — their quota — built from their handicap: 36 minus your handicap. Then the round is one question: how far over or under your own number did you finish?
The rules
Points off gross score: bogey 1, par 2, birdie 4, eagle 8 — the classic table, generous to great holes. Compare each player's finish against their own quota; best against-quota wins.
The nine handicapper who shoots his number owes nothing to the scratch man who shot his. That's the entire appeal: nobody's handicap buys them anything except their own fair target.
The money
Settled pairwise on the gap between your over/under and theirs, at the stake a point.
How it settles
Your quota is 26; you score 29, three over your number. Mike's quota is 31; he scores 30, one under. He beat you by four at $1 a point — $4, and the handicaps never entered the argument.
Rivalry scores Quota live — the rules stated on the first tee, the money running along the bottom of the card, and the settle done to the dollar when the last putt drops. The round goes into your group's permanent record, because a game this good deserves to be remembered past the car park.
Some scores take years to settle.
Rivalry is in closed beta with a handful of groups. Leave an email and we’ll tell you when there’s room.
