The tab
Four players, six rounds, everyone owing everyone a bit. Normally that's fifteen minutes in the car park and somebody getting shorted.
The tab does the arithmetic. It collapses every debt in the group into the smallest set of payments that clears the lot, so instead of eight small transfers you get two.
It sits on the clubhouse and at the top of the Ledger, because "who owes who" is the question most people open the app with and it shouldn't be a tab away.
Rounds played on a trip are the exception. Those settle on the trip's own tab, along with what the trip cost, and the group's running tab never sees them.
We never touch it
No payments, no wallet, no card on file, no cut of anything. The tab records what your group agreed among yourselves. You settle up however you already do.
Worth saying plainly because most apps that get near money want a slice of it. This one doesn't want to be near it at all.
Paying from the tab
Put a Venmo username or Cash App cashtag on your profile — optional, and shown only to people in your groups. Then every payment on the tab that involves you gets a button: Pay in Venmo or Pay in Cash App when you owe, Request in Venmo when you're owed. It opens the other app with the person, the amount and a plain note already typed, and the send is yours, in that app. Nothing comes back to Rivalry, which is why marking the tab settled is still a person's job.
The clubhouse shows the same thing without a tap: "Pay Brad $9" or "Jake owes you $9", button and all.
How it adds up
Under the payments, the tab lays the arithmetic out: every open round as a column, each person as a row, the total beside the name. Each payment says why it is what it is — who's down how much over how many rounds, who's up, and when a payment covers only part of a balance, which part. A settle-up you can follow is one you can trust.
Settling up
Settle up under the payments opens one page with everything in it: what's yours to pay, with Pay $9 in Venmo or Pay $9 in Cash App when the person you owe has a handle on their profile; what's coming to you, with Request in Venmo when the payer has; and the payments between the others, for the record. Each one says why it's what it is. Pay from there, then Mark paid & settled at the bottom.
If someone hasn't put Venmo or Cash App on their profile, the page says so, and you pay them the way you always have. Rivalry never moves the money; marking the tab settled is the group's word that it did.
Marking it settled
Anyone can mark the tab settled. If that was wrong, undo it and the ledger goes back. Both go in the group's history with a name and a time on them, so nobody's memory has to be the source of truth.
Rounds with nothing on them
A round doesn't need money on it. Old cards usually have none, because nobody remembers what the bet was in 2019 and Rivalry won't invent one. Those rounds still count for scores, records and who owns the course.
