Dots
Greenies, sandies, barkies, poleys — the junk, counted and paid.
Also called Trash or Junk: the small heroics no scorecard can see, made worth something. A greenie — on the green in one at a par three, no worse than par. A sandie — par or better out of a bunker. A barkie — par after hitting a tree. A poley — a putt holed from outside the flagstick's length.
The rules
Every dot collects the stake from every other player. Dots never cancel; they accumulate and settle with the round. The group decides what counts on the first tee — every clubhouse has its own menu, and defending your barkie is half the fun.
How it settles
$1 dots, foursome. A greenie at the 8th, a sandie at 14, and the tree on 17 you insist you aimed at: three dots, $9, all argument.
Rivalry scores Dots live — the rules stated on the first tee, the money running along the bottom of the card, and the settle done to the dollar when the last putt drops. The round goes into your group's permanent record, because a game this good deserves to be remembered past the car park.
Some scores take years to settle.
Rivalry is in closed beta with a handful of groups. Leave an email and we’ll tell you when there’s room.
